How To Memorize Books

Take each segment and read through it a few times. Visualize the segment. For example, visualize Moses writing these letters.

Put the books in a tune that you may remember like the Lone Ranger theme. When the first segment is Memorized, go on to the second segment using the same method although you may change the image in your mind and the theme song. When that segment is Memorized, review the last segment with the current segment. As you add segments, soon you will be well on your way to memorizing all the books.

ROH Radio :: His Word in My Heart with Janet Pope :: How Busy ...“As Jodi has pointed out, the word “shallow” was an unfortunate choice of words. I speak as one who cannot Memorize anything, let alone Scripture. I want to suggest that it’s not HOW you learn Scripture that determines the depth of your life with Christ, it is your motivation for being in the Word.

“Hi Nancy: Thank you for this program with Janet Pope. I finished reading Janet’s book “His word in my Heart” few days ago (which I bought when I attended your recording session in beginning of this month – Thank you Stacy Brattenburg for bringing this book to the resource table) and I would recommend this book to anyone who is really serious about memorizing HIS Word. I used to write 2 to 3 verses on individual index cards, but I would misplaced them or these cards would float around inside my bags. Janet’s method of using spiral index cards is excellent and so, I went out immediately bought these spiral index cards and wrote down verses from the chapters of book I am determined with HIS grace and strength to Memorize. Also, I am grateful ROH had program of interview Nancy had with Nancy Epperson beginning of this year. I would recommend other listeners to go back to ROH archive (Jan 2010) to listen to that program as well. The reward of memorizing and hiding HIS WORD is so enormous and Janet has described in so succinctly in her book. Thank you Nancy for this interview and Thank you Janet for writing this book. Most of all, Thank you LORD for your desire to have us hide Your Word in our heart so that we might not sin against you and work worthy of Your precious Name. John 6:63″.

A person can be studying/memorizing for many reasons, such as: I want to learn how to raise my children for Christ or learn how to have a better marriage or how to become a better person and so on. However, the Bible was written so that we can know Christ. God is pleased with any method a person uses to know His Son. My method is to study using carefully chosen authors – even though I was told that one should never go to commentaries as a first method (another guilt-producing rule). The authors I choose teach for the purpose of knowing Him (no extraneous side trips). It has served me well in developing an intimate relationship with the Lord. My point is: listen to what people have to say about how they learn Scripture; if it fits you personalize it for yourself and use it. If it doesn’t fit you keep asking the Lord to show you what WILL work for you. He will reveal Himself to anyone who seeks to know Him deeply and who depends upon Him to bring that about — and He has many methods up His amazing sleeve.”.

Memorize The Word

As I have been writing these down, I have also been slowly memorizing them, tackling one verse every couple of days. My heart is encouraged, comforted, reproved and instructed in this and it is helping me to be able to turn to different verses for specific times of my life.In times when I feel alone I can cling to verses that remind me of the Lords love and grace towards me. When I feel like nothing is going right in my life, I can rely on verses that speak of the Lords faithfulness and his promise that he has a plan for me.Without having different verses like this Memorized, my heart is prone to easily slip into unbelief instead of faith in the promises of God and who he says he is.

If I were to ask you if you believed God is a God of love, no doubt you would most likely say yes. But if I asked you to give me a verse that says God is love, would you be able to tell me one. What if I asked for verses that say God is faithful, wise, strong, powerful, righteous, etc. These are all truths about who the Lord is, yet many of us cannot explain from where we know them, or why we believe them.

We have upon our feet the shoes of preparation to preach God’s gospel of peace. Therefore, we will stand strong and secure. We can meet any attack of the devil by raising the sWord of God’s Spirit, which is His Word.

With the battle cry of ‘It is written..’, the Enemy will turn and flee. ” Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’ (Jas 4:7).

A Wise Woman is Word-Filled « Joy-filled Days BlogI had a situation like this this past week. A friend called specifically for some advice, and after listening, I told her what I would do according to what scripture teaches. She called me knowing that I would tell her truthfully what I thought.

Great post. I am new at leading others and recently God has given me a new convert to care for and teach. It is a weighty task but one that is worthy and rewarding. I pray I will lead her in God’s truths and not in my own opinions but is it true that if I don’t know what God’s Word says I will never be able to give it to her. Thanks for stopping by my blog the other day. Looking forward to reading more from you.

These are the friendships that matter. Where each person is teachable and dependent on the other to ‘set her straight in love’ if she thinks she is going to do something that dishonors the Lord.

Scripture Memory with Toddlers | Passionate HomemakingAnother great resource is Judy Rogers CD Teach Me While My Heart Is Tender ‘ It’s a combination of previous albums (Why Can’t I See God & Go To The Ant). It covers the children’s catechism and some proverbs. Judy is reformed (presbyterian) hence the catechism which was foreign to my upbringing, but WOW I can’t recommend it highly enough> Just to explain for those who may think as I did that catechisms are just for catholics ‘ it’s not true.

Also, to those asking if 9 months or 1 year or 17 months is too early, I just want to encourage you that whatever age you decide is right for you and your family to begin memorization, don’t let early age or the fact that your kiddo isn’t speaking yet stop you. The Word of God will not return void ‘ it will at the very least be an encouragement to you to set your mind on things above (especially on those really trying days) and likely your child will soak some up too. Repeating scripture to him will help influence which are the first Words he learns. God, Love, Obey, Kind’etc’ Just don’t set your hopes/expectations too high -God will bring the fruit He desires in His own good time.

A sampling of the catechism questions covered on this CD: God Made Me, The Ten Commandments, How Can I glorify God., The Greatest Commandment. I suggest researching it a bit more and considering it to supplement CDs like Hide Em in Your Heart and straight memorization.

Memorizing Qur'an Tips With Shaykh Yasir Qadhi | Halalify(11) VERY KEY ‘ Never memorize by jumping around from one part of the surah to a completely different part of mushaf ‘ like he showed us from one part of the book, Memorizing some, and then go to another entirely different section of the book. You will have holes in your memorization that way. Start at Juz Amma he recommends, and work back.

(B) GO OVER PREVIOUS 10 DAYS, it is fresh in the heads, it is not a lot. For example, if it is the 15th of the month go over what you memorized the 5th ‘ 14th of the month. You can take a little break before going on to C if you want.

Be consistent. Memorize at the least 7 to 8 juz back to back to back before moving around in the mushaf.

Online Quran Recitation: Importance of Quran Memorization ...Indeed, there are great rewards for those who learn, read, and memorize Quran, which they benefit from in this world, as well as The Hereafter. There are numerous Ahadith which extol the virtues of learning the Quran and Recite Quran. Ibn Hibban, Al-Bayhaqi, and At-Tabarani, have reported in Sahih Ahadith that the Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, has said: ‘The Quran is an intercessor (which by Allaah’s permission) intercedes, as well as an opponent (which is) truthful.

Further elaborating upon this advice to new students who want to learn the Quran, Imam Al-Haafidh an-Nawawi had stated: ‘The first thing he (the student of Quran) should begin with is Quran Recitation, which is the most important of the branches of knowledge. And the Companions and those that follow them did not use to teach Hadith or Fiqh, except to one who had memorized Quran When he has memorized it, let him beware of preoccupying himself from it with Hadith, Fiqh, or other things, to the extent that it leads him to forget anything of the Quran, or makes that likely.’ (From the introduction to Al-Majmoo’ Sharh-ul-Muhadhhab).

He who appoints it as his leader, (then it) will lead him to Paradise. And he who puts it behind him, (then it) will lead him to the Fire.’ AstaghfirAllaah.
